The Catholic Church teaches that the fullness of the truth resides only in the Catholic Church. This course covers the foundational teachings of the Catholic Church. The purpose is not only to inform Catholics so that they will understand the Faith on a deeper level, but it is also intended to assure those considering conversion to the Catholic Faith that they will have been presented with the teaching of the Church on all of the major issues so that there will be no surprises for them in the future. The guiding principle in these lectures is to present the truth in all its beauty trusting that the beauty and clarity of that truth will speak for itself and draw people to it.
Our Lord told us that we are made for the truth and that the truth will set us free. These classes do not concern themselves with personal opinions or avant-garde idea; their purpose is to present what the Catholic Church teaches, as the Catholic Church teaches it. In this same vein, the course does not shy away from the areas of difference between Catholic and non-Catholic Christian beliefs. This is done in a respectful manner, but clear explanations are presented so the listener will understand what the Church teaches and why we believe anything other in incorrect. The operative philosophy in the teaching style is to not only present the teachings of the Church, but to explain them so that people can see that the teachings of the Church are both reasonable and coherent.
Father Robert Altier is a Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis. He is deeply committed to providing instruction in the foundational teachings of the Catholic Church.

It works well for adult level faith formation, and we have used some videos for our RCIA program. I like the vast amount of topics (the whole faith essentially) that are covered and organized into each episode of about 28 min. I would recommend it to both people new in the faith and to those simply just wanting to go deeper in their understandings.
